inspiration from this entry comes from the 2 guys who
got charged in court for their sweet nothings to my community.
thanks guys.
anyway, rather than yak yak yak abt how they are a menace to society
(which they are of cos),
i feel that it's better to see it in a positive light
bak kata pepatah melayu (cheydebah),
buang yang keruh, ambil yang jernih.
sometimes when we feel very strongly about sth,
we tend to put it across more forcefully than usual.
which i think is de prob with these 2 immature guys
with bad command of english.
but like another pepatah melayu, (i'm getting the hang of this)
klu tiada angin, masakan pokok bergoyang.
i mean, if i were to suddenly blog tt other races are
lazy, good-for-nothing, yada yada
everyone will think i'm crazy and wun treat me seriously right?
which is my point.
all the happenings should acually be like a slap across each and
everyone of our faces, and we should try to change de way we are viewed.
true, a stigma won disappear that easily,
but hey, at least if u try, u can influence the thinking of those ard u.
halimah ya'acob, nuraliza osman, rilla melati, khairuddin shaharom.
u think nuraliza won becos of her looks?
u think khairuddin was hot once upon a time juz cos of his physique?
lawyer, architect, scholarship.
like whoa rite?
if we can easily wanna be like taufik batisah,
play soccer like noh alam shah,
why cant we follow the footsteps of ppl who are respected academically?
maybe u guys will disagree with me.
who says tt degree with determine hapiness?
ahhaa. my bf likes to say tt too.
i actually am in awe of the ppl who was featured in detik
a few days ago.
won the goh chok tong scholarship.
but on the other hand, it saddens me when i heard convo..
not juz once, but a couple of times... tt goes sth like this...
translated to english cos i find it hard totype in anak metro language
topic : IT College East
person 1 : eh, but it's big and beautiful. got swimming pool summore.
person 2 : best yea? i think i wanna go there.
person 1 : yea la... and the uniforms is mix-n-match summore
these are kids. KIDS.
who aspire to go ITE.
which is ok, at least they are not quitting sch.
but have u guys heard of a saying tt goes,
shoot for the moon, even if u miss, u'll land among the stars?
and these people... are aiming to go ite.. for superficial reasons.
swimming pool, new building, mixn-match uniform.
the govt did all that to remove the stigma tt ite is juz a place to
dump all the unwanted students in one place so tt they wun be up to any
mischief.
which is nothing wrong ah.
but if u go there only for supreficial reasons
u are wasting the government's effort
and our tax money.
my last issue will strike a chord in most people.
Malays vs Maths.
From my siblings, friends, relatives, tuition kids,
students i used to relief teach...
everyone seems to think and agree that Malays are bad at
maths.
but no one seems to want to know why we are that way.
is it the way our brain functions?
our speech, which is based on hear-say rather than memorising
like the chinese characters?
or lifestyle?
it saddens me tt people give up on maths.
it saddens me even more tt people say they are bad at maths
cos they are malay.
I hope we all can do sth about tt.
maybe when we have kids.
or those aspiring maths teachers i noe..
ryu, shameem, soffz...
i hope you guys can inspire ur students.
anyway, i hope my ramblings hasnt offended anyone.
a lot of ppl dun want to expose their weaknesses
and list them down.
but it's better than taking it all in.
just because we are Malays, doesnt mean we are all good-for-nothing.
up to us to change for the sake of our future generations.
