initially, i wrote a reasonably long entry,

before deleting it all.

reason being, suddenly my 'kampung' comes to mind.

gotta write abt tt.

my area is now in the preparing for the upgrading works.

and it brought a lot of mixed feelings, basically.

only true bedok-ians will understand why i am so attached to bedok.

being a mature estate, you get everythin u need here.

de void decks are unlike de ones in de new estate.

you can run around and play soccer, or slack ard with ur frens.

for de makciks/pakciks/ahpeks/nyonyas, void decks

mean meet-ups.

it's not just the void decks i guess.

it's also the fact that unlike other matured estates,

you cant find a mall in bedok.

which means bedok remains the quiet town tt one would love

to go back to at the end of the idea.

and unlike t*******, you wun find mats and minahs

congregating at the railings at interchnage.

at most, a few skimmers waiting for 197 or 196, to go east coast.

aside from the physical features,

bedok-ians usually have been stayin here for as long as they can remember.

for ppl my age, we live here our whole lives.

our kindergarten and primary school frens still live near us.

i like the fact that sometimes when i board the bus,

i glance around and see a few familiar faces everytime.

yes, they have grown, but seeing them brings back memories when we were still

playing catching and hopscotch.

i dun always say hello, or start a conversation, but rest assured

that seeing these people makes my day.

i guess i'm not alone in feeling this way.

but i guess one day, when i get married, and maybe move away from this place,

i wonder if i still feel the same way.

cos if i think i'm gonna be married to tt someone (who hates bedok btw),

den perhaps we'll move somewhere not in bedok or tamp (to be fair).

will i still feel like i'm home, even tho i juz reach de mrt station at de

end of the day?

oh well, bedok has a kind of rustic charm that only it's long time inhabitants will

relate to.

and i sure hope that all these upgrading wun change too much of tt. =)
