i've been following the case of the 2 yr old malay girl
found under the aljunied bridge. dead. naked. decomposed.
and her step-dad is now the prime suspect.
anyway, wad bothers me most is her family background,
splashed in all the newspapers in singapore.
i have trouble myself, trying to figure out who
the mum, dad, step dad, step grandma, step grandpa.. bla bla.
illegitimate kid/(s). and the mum is the same age as me,
but her eldest child is 6 yrs old.
and this is the sad truth of many such malay-muslim families
in singapore.
i made a stupid joke when i was in political science lecture.
abt why we need mats n minahs. but i shall not say it here.
cos it was meant to be a joke, and i dun want anyone to take it seriously.
but of cos, it's a sad thing.
when the kids grow up, and fall in love, a lot more complications will arise.
and it might be a vicious cycle all over again.
funny isnt it, our religion abhors things like drinking, premarital sex
and all things non-halal,
but in singapore, guess who does all these things?
imagine what ppl who don share our religion might think.
yes, we shake our heads at terrorism, thinkin that we wun be muslim extremists like tt,
but what kind of muslims are we now?
is it any better?
this is the very thing that is making me think twice abt going into teaching.
cos maybe i want to do sth tt will help improve the plight of these
malay-muslims.
but of cos... like soffz' nick used to be,
i want to save the world.
but i'm not perfect.
back to the original topic, there must be some hikmah towards wad had happened
to the lil girl.
it's all for the best, i guess.
