iftar, the night before.
to geylang for tudungs, the night before.
with green tudungs, tired and looking drunk, after the event.
ROW, for the uninitiated, is short for
Ramadhan-on-Wheels.
Volunteers were divided into groups of 4-5,
and drove all over Singapore to send provisions
to 170 low-income families.
Each group were given 3-5 houses to go to,
to be completed and assemble back for iftar
either at the mosque, and some got a chance to break fast
at the client's house.
my sis and her bf took part as well.
i love it cos all de ppl i am close to were at the event.
but most importantly,
it was a humbling experience for me.
i learnt that life is very much unexpected.
that one moment you can be all loved and stable,
the next, you can end up alone.
i learnt to be thankful for my blessings.
cos there are other ppl who need more help.
i learnt to appreciate the little things in life.
things that we may take for granted,
other ppl can only dream about it.
i learnt that there are some people who just fall through the cracks.
no help is given, they dunno where to go.
i do sincerely hope that our efforts did manage to put
a little festive cheer in their hearts.
and that we all go away with meaningful and valuable life lessons.
here's to more ROWs to come. =)
